FORMA creates residences where architecture, landscape, and everyday living exist as one.
Explore Residences
Dorado, Puerto Rico
A sanctuary where ocean breezes shape the architecture. Floor-to-ceiling glazing dissolves the boundary between interior and landscape, while natural stone and warm timber create an atmosphere of quiet sophistication.
Vieques, Puerto Rico
Perched at the edge of the Caribbean, this residence captures the horizon as its central design element. Expansive terraces, a private beach path, and interiors bathed in natural light define the coastal living experience.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
A private courtyard becomes the heart of this urban sanctuary. Traditional Caribbean materials meet contemporary minimalism in a residence designed for both intimate family moments and sophisticated entertaining.
Every FORMA residence begins with a deep understanding of place, light, and the rhythms of daily life. We believe that true luxury is not opulence, but the feeling of being perfectly at home in a space that understands you. Our practice weaves together architecture, landscape, and interior design into a single, coherent vision — one that honors both the natural world and the human experience within it.
We immerse ourselves in the site, its climate, and your vision. Every project begins with listening — to the land, the light, and the way you want to live.
Conceptual sketches evolve into spatial narratives. We explore materials, proportions, and the dialogue between interior and exterior spaces.
Every detail is considered — from the grain of timber to the quality of light at dusk. We collaborate with artisans and craftspeople to perfect each element.
Construction becomes craft under our oversight. We ensure that the built reality exceeds the promise of every drawing and model.
Nicolás Varen
Founder & Creative DirectorWith over fourteen years of practice across the Caribbean and beyond, Nicolás Varen has shaped FORMA as a studio where architecture serves life rather than imposing upon it. His approach draws from the modernist tradition while remaining deeply rooted in the specific character of each place.
"I believe the best architecture disappears," Varen notes. "It becomes the frame through which you experience the world — the quality of morning light, the sound of rain, the way a room holds a conversation."
Under his direction, FORMA has completed eighteen residences, each one a unique response to its site and its inhabitants. The studio's work has been recognized with seven international design awards and featured in leading publications worldwide.
